Online renew/reserve materials catalog!
On Wednesday, September 8th, the library broke out of its walls.
Everything except the books will now be accessible online. And we even have some books online too!
Thanks to the Greater Federated Women's Clubs, the library has installed a new computer system that allows you to access your account and a complete list of the library materials from anywhere with Internet access.
You can search the catalog to find a book, place a reserve on it, and then be notified by phone, e-mail or text. All you need is your library card number and your telephone number. You can check your account to see what you have out, renew any overdue items, or even ask the library to order something they don't have.
This new system makes it easy and convenient for you to keep track of your library materials from the comfort of your home or phone 24 hours a day. Even the e-books can be checked out at home through the READS program.

The Davis Homes Library was the proud recipient of
Round 3 of the Great Stories Club grant.
We received this grant from the American Library Association in cooperation with Oprah's Angel Network.
There have been two book club meetings, which are for at-risk teens, held in the library so far this year and the last book club meeting will be held on May 13 in the library.
The book being discussed is One of Those Hideous Books Where The Mother Dies, by Sonya Sones
(Simon & Schuster, 2005).
Copies of the book are available on a first come,
first served basis.

Grave's End: A True Ghost Story,
Grave's End was an interestingly horrifying book.
A woman wrote it based on her personal experiences
with the entities in her own home. It was about a
family moving into a haunted house. At first, I thought
it would be like all stories starting out like that.
But the characters and what was happening to them,
and continued to happen to them for years, were so
frightening. I'd leave my light on when I went to bed
at night after reading a few chapters.
It really makes you take time to think and wonder about
the afterlife and question whether or not it's real.
If you want a good scare and a book that keeps you
reading, this is a good book for you.

This is the best book and I got it at the

Review by library patron, Mildred L.

I just read A Highlander's Stolen Bride,
by Melanie George.
It's about a half English and half Scottish
lord, who's stong, sexy, and handsome...and
every woman's dream. A must read for every
woman, so you know your dreams can come true.

Charles Burningham, valued library volunteer and a truegentleman passed away on February 5th, 2010. Charles served Davis Homes Library with distinction, adding a touch of class with his gentle presence, helpful attitude and low key sense of humor.

our new computer system from 2005-2006. One of the most helpful things Charles did was come in at 2:00 a.m. on many occasions so that he could enter new materials on the library's circulation computer. Charles even enlisted his wonderful wife, Faye, to help the library, and they both took on the enormous job
of organizing the office and circulation desk, to improve
efficiency at the library.

I remember her always busy and ready to help in any way she could. Also we had a lot of fun and she was really serious about the Meth Free Tennessee Program. She helped with a lot of activities such as that and others. She's a wonderful woman and brought so much joy to the library. She truly deserves Patron of the Year.
